| Abstract: | The doctoral thesis "Guidobaldo dal Monte's mechanics in context" presents reseaches on Guidobaldo's mechanics, against the background of his biography and technical-scientific environment. After three introductory chapters concerning Guidobaldo's life, his cultural milieu and the background of sixteenth-century mechanics, the thesis deals with the analysis of Guidobaldo's major works on mechanics. The second part of the thesis is dedicated to two crucial topics and problems of Guidobaldo's mechanics. The appendixes present ample documentary material |
