Titolo:The physiology of mind, the unity of nature and the moral order in Victorian thought / L.S. Jacyna.
Abstract:The "physiological psychology" propounded by Wilhelm Wundt in Germany, and Herbert Spencer and Alexander Bain in Britain, held that the mind was related to the material conditions from which it originated; that it was a product of the organism in its relations with the world. This declaration of the unity of mind with nature stimulated experimental investigation into the somatic conditions of sensation and action, aided research into the foundation of mental and neural disorders, and led to a more naturalistic understanding of man
