Abstract:
"Recent studies of the pathways of ascorbic acid in the human body now suggest that heavy exertion, hardship and stress accelerate the depletion of the human ascorbic acid reservoir. Supporting evidence for this proposition may be found in the experience of exploring and especially of polar expeditions from the 18th to the early 20th centuries."
