Abstract:
Argues that 'continental drift theory ... incorporated the prejudice of continentalism' (defined here as a belief in the geological superiority of one continent over another). It was Eurocentric and disparaging of the Americas, which may have contributed to the initial repudiation of Alfred Wegener's theory by American geologists.'
