Abstract:
'By History of Science' I refer to the (partly) professionalized activity of today; the history of science' means the record of what happened in the past in science. The thesis of this paper is that mathematics has played a major role, at times a dominating one, in the history of science; but, by contrast, it is normally ignored in History of Science.'
