A new chart for British natural philosophy : the development of energy physics in the nineteenth century / Crosbie Smith.
Abstract:
"In this paper I want to argue two principal theses: First, that William Thomson was the central figure in laying the foundations of energy physics in Britain during the period 1850-75, and second, that simple internalist or externalist historiographical categories are inadequate for an understanding of the ways in which energy physics was important to 19th-century British physical scientists."
