Reassessing Freud's case histories : the social construction of psychoanalysis / Frank J. Sulloway.
Abstract:
'[Freud's] controversial clinical methods only served to magnify the conceptual problems inherent in his dubious theoretical assumptions. In this essay I shall argue that the peculiar social organization that emerged within psychoanalysis during its first three decades was closely tied to Freud's concerted but unsuccessful efforts to circumvent these methodological shortcomings.'
