Abstract:
'This paper will trace in detail the diversity of manners in which the virus was emphasized by proponents of the nucleocentric approach to the origin of life in each of three overlapping periods--that from 1928 until 1937, that from 1935 until 1954, and that from 1953 until 1963--in an attempt to depict more accurately the history of the nucleocentric approach: not as a linear progression, but as a fairly bumpy path to the present.'
