Titolo:The Rockefeller Foundation and spectroscopy research : the programs at Chicago and Utrecht / Doris T. Zallen.
Abstract:'In the mid-1930s the Natural Sciences Division of the Rockefeller Foundation, under the direction of Warren Weaver, began a major initiative to improve research in the biological sciences by bringing the tools of the physical sciences into biological investigations ... An analysis of the program in spectroscopy [the Rockefeller's attempt to foster the use of spectroscopy in biological research], emphasizing its effects at two different locations--the University of Chicago and the University of Utrecht--reveals that the Foundation, by setting up projects and providing funding, was able to serve as the catalyst for some interactions between physical scientists and biologists that would not have otherwise occurred.'
