Abstract:
'... My present aims are ... to approach the interpretation of the "Fasciculo" dissection scene as an end in itself. First I shall consider its immediate context, namely the "Fasciculo di medicina". Then I shall reexamine the dissection scene in relation both to the "Fasciculo" and to other early pictures of anatomies. Finally I shall turn to the anatomy statutes of Padua and Venice as documents which, I believe, are highly relevant to an understanding of the picture.'
