Abstract:
'This article presents two little known documents on the history of the Ecole polytechnique probably written by Lamblardie, director of the Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées in 1794 and also the first director of the Ecole polytechnique. Together with other documents discussed in this paper, they support the hypothesis that although the Ecole polytechnique descended from the Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées, there was a certain amount of friction in the course of this development between engineers and scientist politicians' active in the foundation of the Ecole polytechnique.'
