| Abstract: | In 1860 two large meteorological instruments, a metallic thermometer and a balance barometer, were installed in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence. The two public apparatus were dismanteled in the late 1930s and, apart of a few pieces of the dials, they were considered lost. A few months ago, during some restoration works, the balance barometer was discovered in a small room behind the Loggia. The instrument was removed, and after a careful restauration, it was recently displayed in the Museum of History of Science |
