Titolo:Faraday's plight and the origins of the magneto-electric spark / Brian Gee.
Abstract:In a very thorough paper, published on the occasion of the bicentenary anniversary of the birth of Leopoldo Nobili, G. Sbrighi has examined a complex set of issues which arose in the aftermath of Michael Faraday's signal achievement of the discovery of electromagnetic induction. Particularly he has examined a polemic arising out of Nobili's interests in electromagnetism. Supplementing this, the present paper reexamines these issues with special regard to the impact in Britain of the news of Nobili's progress. It transpires that Faraday's plight was less to do with fears about Nobili stealing his glory but more to do with defending his position on home ground when others doubted his priority
