Abstract:
In the dialogue Iter Exstaticum, Athanasius Kircher presents his cosmological and astronomical conceptions. The main influence on Kircher's work is the philosophy of Nicolaus of Cusa, despite the presence of several, some times conflicting, elements of other philosophies. In spite of being approved by the internal censorship of the Jesuits, the text was denounced to the General of the Society, causing a polemic among the censors. The text and its later editions demonstrate that not all efforts towards the doctrinal uniformization of the Society were successful
