| Note: | The octavo series of Abstracts first published in 1832 forms a sequence to the quarto Abridgements of the Philosophical transactions which covered the period 1665-1800. The first two volumes, 1800-30, contain a collection of abstracts of papers arranged in the order of the full papers in the Philosophical transactions; in the third volume a new order was adopted, the abstracts being arranged under meetings, each meeting being headed by a brief account of the business which preceded the reading of the papers; v. 3-4 were issued in numbers (no. 1-57) each having the caption "Proceedings" Continued by: Royal Society (Great Britain).
