Titolo:Galileo gleanings : XXII: Velocity and Eudoxian proportion theory / Stillman Drake.
Abstract:Galileo's proof that speeds in fall are not proportional to distances fallen did not invoke a theorem proved only for uniform motions. The proof and the theorem are analyzed, and Tartaglia's correction of the Campanus commentary on Euclid, Book 5., is related to differences between Galilean and medieval physics. Recent criticism of Galileo's proof confuses speed acquired with speed throug an interval
