The lifter of heavy bodies of Heron of Alexandria in the Iranian world / Giuseppina Ferriello.
Abstract:
The contribution considers several Persian codices, found in recent years, that were inspired by Book II of Heron's Mechanics. Made in the Iranian context, their existence imposes the integration of the studies performed on the guide of Greek fragments and on the Arabic version of Qustâ Ibn Luqâ al-Ba'albakkî that have inspired all of the translators of European languages. Moreover, the distribution of the texts in a wider and wider temporal and cultural space and their noticeable correlations suggest searches in fields up to now neglected by the historians of science, just like the Iranian one, abounding of documents and texts
