| Abstract: | Questa tesi ha un duplice scopo: da un lato studiare l'opera matematica di Giorgio Valla, identificandone le fonti classiche, e dall'altro creare uno strumento informatico accessibile a tutti che permetta di trovare facilmente tutte le informazioni riguardo al De expetendis et fugiendis rebus The research program has achieved two main objectives: to collect all the material related to Giorgio Valla, his scientific career and the fortune of De expetendis et fugiendis rebus, his most important book; to offer a key of interpretation of the De expetendis et fugiendis rebus, a complex encyclopaedic work composed of hundreds of pages. In detail, we have identified the editorial phases of Valla's encyclopaedia, the first redaction of which appears to have been a manuscript of the late 1470s, the Quibus rebus humana perfecta sit foelicitas (Ambrosian Library, Milan). In order to make the results obtained from the study of the mathematical parts of the De expetendis more accessible, an ontology has been developed, i.e. a semantic description made with a systematic approach to the whole content of Valla's works. By means of such an instrument, semantic searches can be conducted about authors and works that Valla cites or utilizes without citing them |
