Titolo:Torricelli et Pascal / Simone Mazauric.
Abstract:The reception of Torricelli's work in France was widely disputed. This reception occurred during the period of the great debate, which in all academic Europe, from 1640, opposed the proponents of the vacuum against the anti-vacuists. Since 1651, Pascal was accused of appropriating the idea of the experiments of Torricelli proving the existence of empty space. This accusation again came to light in 1906 in a series of articles. After exposing the accusation against Pascal, we will try to understand how the academic community of both France and Italy managed to find credibility in these accusations. Finally, to understand that Pascal was inspired by the work and ideas of Torricelli on emptiness, one cannot deny the originality and the value that was added to the original thesis.
