| Abstract: | The essay goes back over the interpretations Eugenio Garin gave of Galileo in the course of his long activity as a historiographer, from that of the 80s that connects Galileo to the mainly Italian but also European crisis brought on by the CounterReformation, to that of the 60s that in Galileo identified the beginning of science and modern philosophy. Finally, it presents the Aristotelian and empiricist Galileo of the 40s, which derives from the interpretation that Garin then gave of therelationship between medieval philosophy and the Renaissance. |
